Title: Leadbetter Course

David Leadbetter decided to design his first golf course in the world right here at Mission Hills. The course reflects David Leadbetter's teaching concepts. In order to play his course well, golfers will need to use every single club in their bags - a true test of skill.

The Leadbetter Course requires precise approach shots to large undulating greens in order to play to a par. Meticulously manicured landscapes and ground covers create an aesthetic quality that golfers are sure to remember. Large, traditional, sand flashed bunkers frame the well-contoured fairways throughout the course. Tees are strategically located on each hole to assure the golfing experience will be both enjoyable, yet challenging for golfers of all levels.

Hole #1 - 448 Yards Par 4

The course starts out strong with a long Par 4 that doglegs slightly right to a green that allows shots to run up but is well bunkered, especially at the left edge. Back left pin placements will prove especially demanding.

Hole #2 - 556 Yards Par 5

From elevated tees, this stunning hole plays downhill to a landing area with a series of bunkers left, forcing the right to left dogleg. More room is available in the landing area than what appears from the tee. Moving forward, the hole then plays back uphill to a green site protected left and back right by impressive bunkering. The green features some tiers but is not overly demanding.

Hole #3 - 197 Yards Par 3

With a dramatic backdrop of the dense forest, this medium length Par 3 offers a large fairway at the front but the left edge falls off severely. Play to the right and the ball will feed to the center.

Hole #4 - 386 Yards Par 4

Short and downhill, this hole will demand a very accurate second shot for those who lay back as a large bunker cuts off the front of the green. There is no room for error if the shot if long . Second shots can be worked left to right and fed down slope to the green for the less bold. Short but treacherous.

Hole #5 - 338 Yards Par 4

Playing back uphill, this medium length hole will play slightly longer. Doglegging right to left, the best tee shot is long and right setting up a second shot onto a fairly large green surface. A small bunker front of the green will dictate second shot play.

Hole #6 - 578 Yards Par 5

Playing downhill this tee shot asks that the player let it fly! Well past the landing area is a stream that bisects the fairway, runs left of the second landing area and then cuts back in front of the green. The second landing area is large with plenty of turf but the player should be thinking of position for his third shot. The green is bunkered left and right and a bunker above the stream looks near the green but is pulled well off. Reachable in two for only the longest players, this hole will play fairly easy for the average player who doesn't push his limits.

Hole #7 - 386 Yards Par 4

This medium/long Par 4 plays slightly uphill to a plateaued fairway and onto a beautiful green site with an enormous backdrop of the towering hillside. Wide fairway cut sweeps into the green from the left but a large bunker guards the right side. Having perhaps the most dramatic backdrop on the course, playing this hole should be quite memorable.

Hole #8 - 475 Yards Par 4

Long and mean, this hole will play slightly shorter than its yardage as it drops significantly downhill from the tee. The green is well bunkered, especially at the left edge so play safely at the right side, looking for the slope to feed left.

Hole #9 - 363 Yards Par 4

This short but wild hole plays substantially downhill from elevated tees to a somewhat tight landing area, begging for a well-placed tee shot. For those bold enough, driver can be hit but it must be well placed or carry a large bunker right, leaving an easy pitch to the green. The hole plays uphill from the landing area to a green site set against a backdrop of vegetated slope. The well-bunkered green features some tiers and slope.

Hole #10 - 130 Yards Par 3

Set atop a cliff edge, this short par 3 features a series of sculpted bunkers along the left edge protecting balls from falling into the canyon below. The green is multi-tiered and offers a difficult back-right lobe reach only by carrying a pot-like bunker or being fed off a strong slope from the back. This hole should pose no serious treats.

Hole #11 - 409 Yards Par 4

This hole is quite intimidating from the tee but actually offers more room right than would appear. A series of bunkers along the left edge of the fairway begs layers to cut off as much as they feel comfortable with. In doing so they leave the best angle of attack to the green that sets at left to right angle with plenty of bunkers right. Immediately in front of the green is a bunker that appears closer to the green than it actually is.

Hole #12 - 479 Yards Par 4

Two words: long and uphill! This will undoubtedly play as the most difficult par 4 on the course. Blast driver as far as you can - plenty of turf is offered and no fairway bunkers. The second should play to the left as the right side of the green is well bunkered. Take your score here and move on!

Hole #13 - 605 Yards Par 5

From elevated tees, the drive plays to a wide-open landing area before turning quickly to the right. Second shots should flirt with the bunkers left to leave the best angle into the green, which is well bunkered, especially at the right edge. This hole should play as a true 3-shot par 5 but those who are bold off the tee can cut the corner and take advantage of the sharp angle.

Hole #14 - 195 Yards Par 3

Long and slightly uphill, this hole will be kind to a ball played right to left as the front right is quite open and will accept a low, running tee shot. Bunkers left and back right provide some demand on accuracy but smart players will favor the front right and take advantage of the bailout right for miss hit shots.

Hole #15 - 420 Yards Par 4

Playing downhill, the best tee shot may not be with a driver as the prime landing area is to stay up on the plateau fairway. The hole turns quickly right and drops sharply to a green site with a tremendous backdrop of the forest and lake. A well-placed tee shot will leave only a short lofted club to the green. Lay back and be wise!

Hole #16 - 183 Yards Par 3

(Signature Hole)

This medium length par 3 plays across a deep, water filled ravine to an island green site surrounded on both sides by streams setting up one huge cascade at the edge of the ravine. The backdrop of vegetated slopes, rock bridge, cascading water and towering mountains will certainly make for great photo opportunities of your foursome!

Hole #17 - 541 Yards Par 5

A double dogleg, uphill par 5 that offers plenty of room at the landing area but quickly proceeds upslope and tightens slightly as the hole unfolds. Leave yourself a full shot to this green that is much larger than it appears from the fairway, bunkering at the front of the green is well short so don't be fooled. Take extra club to combat the slope. Long is good as fairway cut surrounds the back offering easy up and down opportunity.

Hole #18 - 425 Yards Par 4

Somewhat tight off the tee, this hole will demand a solid, well-placed tee shot up the left side for the best angle into the green. Long tee shots will receive earth roll but will leave more elevation onto the green from a fairway low. The green is well bunkered, especially on the right, and demands premium shot making. Not overly long but still tough, this is quite a finishing hole to a strong layout.
