Entries Welcomed for Top Amateur Tournament in Asia
2nd Mission Hills Asia-Pacific Open Amateur Championship

July 3, Shenzhen, China: Entries are welcomed for the 2nd Mission Hills Asia-Pacific Open Amateur Championship, scheduled from December 4th to 7th, 2007 at Mission Hills Golf Club, China.

The Mission Hills Asia Pacific Open Amateur Championship is a world-class amateur golf tournament, jointly organized by the Asia Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) and Mission Hills Golf Club, China.  With the comprehensive amenities and experience in hosting over 30 international events, Mission Hills is both the organizer and venue for the Open Amateur Championship for 10 consecutive years.  The field will be opened to male amateur golfers with a valid and recognized handicap of not higher than 5.

The Open Amateur Championship is the first event in China to run under R&A Amateur Ranking Points System; the event allows players to collect sufficient points for possible entries into top-level competitions such as the US Amateur Championship, the European Individual Amateur Championship and Amateur Championship.  In a way the Championship is a shortcut to the other world-class tournaments for the Asian amateur players.

APGC has invited the two top amateurs from their 28 member countries and other golf associations all over the world.  120 players are expected to take part in the four-day, 72-hole strokeplay Championship. The field will be cut to 60 players plus ties after 36 holes. The latter part of the championship is expected to turn white-hot.
