New American Team Announced
For Omega Mission Hills World Cup

Childhood Friends Boo Weekley and Heath Slocum Eager to
Play at China and World’s Most-Revered Golf Club

(1 November - China) Mission Hills Golf Club, China, the world’s No. 1 golf club is pleased to announce today that the colourful tandem of Boo Weekley and Heath Slocum will now represent the United States in the prestigious 2007 Omega Mission Hills World Cup, scheduled to tee-off over the Club’s championship Olazábal Course on November 22-25.

Boo Weekley, ranked 36th in the Official World Golf Rankings was selected to replace Aaron Oberholser, who withdrew after aggravating a pre-existing injury to the middle finger of his left hand at the Fry’s Electronics Open in Scottsdale, Arizona.  Oberholser underwent surgery on 30 October.

Boo Weekley who derives his name from the popular cartoon character Boo Boo in the William Hanna and Joseph Barbera cartoon series “Yogi Bear” is well-known for his home-spun humour and extraordinary sense of style whilst out on the links. Both he and long-time school friend Heath Slocum are guaranteed to wow the crowds following the Omega Mission Hills World Cup, winning along the way no doubt a new legion of fans.

Commenting on his selection and right to choose Heath Slocum Boo Weekley said, "It took three days for the news to finally sink in that I will be going to China with my best friend to represent America. It really is a dream come true for me. I am so excited to play with Heath and represent our country in this world event. Our going to China and representing America demonstrates just how far we have come.”

“The excitement exhibited by Boo Weekley and Heath Slocum exemplifies the exalted position that the Omega Mission Hills World Cup holds on the international golf scene,” says Dr. David Chu, Chairman, Mission Hills Group.  “They will be a great addition to the world-class field that will challenge for one of golf’s most coveted titles.”

Among the headliners who will join Boo Weekley and Heath Slocum in the field are Jose Maria Olazábal, designer of the host course and two-time Masters champion; Retief Goosen of South Africa, the 2001 and 2004 United States Open Champion; Mike Weir of Canada, the 2003 Masters winner; and eight-time PGA European Tour Order of Merit leader Colin Montgomerie of Scotland.
“Mission Hills’ ability to attract the world’s greatest players to China on an annual basis further solidifies its place as the epicenter of Asian golf and as one of the premier international golf destinations,” says Dr. Chu.
