Mission Hills voted “Preferred Brand of China’s Richest in 2007”

The Hurun Report’s annual “Best of the Best Survey” on preferred brands of China's richest was unveiled in Shanghai. Mission Hills Golf Club was named the “Golf Club Most Favored by China’s Richest in 2007”. The factors taken into account in the assessment are: club services, hole design, public reputation, convenience, and service facilities for members’ families.

Omega to sponsor Mission Hills World Cup of Golf for 12 consecutive years

On January 30, 2007 British local time, the International Federation of PGA Tours announced that prestigious watch manufacturer Omega had officially signed an agreement to be title sponsor of the Mission Hills World Cup of Golf for 12 consecutive years. From 2007 to 2018, Omega will join hands with Mission Hills Golf Club to launch “Omega Mission Hills World Cup of Golf”.

Mission Hills Resort named “2006 Best Golf Resort in Asia”

Asian Golf Monthly, the most authoritative golf magazine in Asia, released the winners of the 2006 golf awards. Mission Hills Resort was named 2006 “Best Golf Resort”. The annual awards saw fierce competition, with more than 1,000 hotels making to the finals. In the end, Mission Hills Resort, with its overwhelming strength, came out on top.

Mission Hills Golf Club again named “Most-favored Golf Club by Capitalist Personnel in 2006” by Securities Market Weekly

Mission Hills Golf Club was again named “Most-favored Golf Club by Capitalist Personnel in 2006” by the Securities Market Weekly, a domestic financial media giant. It was the second time the Club had received the honor since 2006, which was the result of a questionnaire survey by the weekly.

David Leadbetter on 3rd visit to Mission Hills Golf Club

During his visit, David Leadbetter spared no time to tour his course and attended a series of golf activities such as teaching, instructing young golfers, David Leadbetter Golf Cup, Skills Challenge. He also shared his experience with club members and guests, bringing every one a tight-scheduled but pleasant golf festival.

Dr. David Chu conferred as Honorary Trustee of Nanjing University

Professor Chen Jun, President of Nanjing University, paid a special visit to Shenzhen to award Dr. David Chu the certificate at the Club’s Dongguan House, in a move to express gratitude for Dr. Chu's support for the university’s scientific research as well as his contributions to China’s educational cause.

Opening ceremony for Fourth Mission Hills Golfathon

The opening ceremony was held at the tournament square of the Dongguan Club, featuring a flag raising and gong ringing. The ceremony was attended by members who were award winners of the 2006 Golfathon, guests, sponsor Callaway, Wastons Water, art and sports stars from Hong Kong and mainland and media friends who had been covering the event.

“Mandarin Contest in Hong Kong’s 18 districts in celebration of return anniversary” officially opened

Prior to the contest, Dr. David Chu donated HK$20 million to launch the largest-scale fund for promoting mandarin in Hong Kong in celebration of the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to the motherland. The fund was intended to encourage Hong Kong residents to learn and speak mandarin, increase their recognition of Chinese culture, and promote exchanges with mainland. The mandarin contest, the largest and longest ever in Hong Kong, drew the participation of some 300,000 contestants.

2007 Fun Day for HKSAR People’s Congress and Political Consultative Conference held at Mission Hills Golf Lake

A total of 120 took part in the event, including Zheng Wantong, Secretary-General of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, Li Youwei, Zhang Tinghan - both member of Standing Committee of CPPCC, and other members of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) People’s Congress and CPPCC Hong Kong Committee, and major officials from Guangdong Province, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. Sports activities included contests of golf, table tennis, tennis, and bridge, etc.

May 18 saw a special golf event at Shenzhen Mission Hills Golf Club, which drew the curtain of “Responsibility•Sunshine – Charity Imagination, China”2007 Masters Invitational Golf Tournament for Charity. Business elites and social celebrities from Shenzhen and Hong Kong attended the event themed on “cooperating with UNDP China and raising funds for poverty relief.”

Mission Hills Golf Clubs’ 11th course – Zhang Lianwei Course officially opened

On June 1, Zhang Lianwei Course, the 11th at Mission Hills, was officially put into use. Designed by Zhang Lianwei, who is recognized as China's No.1 golfer, the course is the first in China that is different from traditional 18-hole short course.

Pete Dye Course, the 12th course of Mission Hills Golf Club was available on August 1, so far Mission Hills set a new record with total 216 holes of 12 courses. Pete Dye Course was designed by Pete Dye the Famous designer of North America, and Pete Dye Course is his first work in China.

On the evening of November 21, the grand opening ceremony for Omega Mission Hills World Cup was held at the Grand Ball Room of Dongguan Clubhouse.
Mr. Zhang Siqing, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC, Mr. Cai Zhenhua, Vice Director of the National Sports Bureau Mr. Huang Huahua, Governor of Guangdong Province, Mr. Xu Zongheng, Mayor of Shenzhen City, and Mr. Liu Zhigeng, Secretary of Municipal Party Committee of Dongguan together with the officials and celebrities and 56 golfers from International Golf Associations, European Tour ,Asian Tour, Japanese Tou, Omega, and 28 countries or regions turned up for the great occasion.

Great Success in 2007 Omega Mission Hills World Cup

Omega Mission Hills World Cup was held from November 21-25 with unique team strokeplay format – playing Fourball and Foursomes on alternate days. Scottish veteran Colin Montgomerie and Marc Warren won the championship and shared 1,600,000 $. Zhang Lianwei and Liang Wenchong carved the best performance by a Chinese team in the history of the World Cup by ranking 11th.

On December 4, 2nd Mission Hills Asia-Pacific Open Amateur Championship was Held at Mission Hills Golf Club, and ended with great success on December 7.Australia’s Jake Younan -Wise build a late three-stroke lead and claim the Asia-Pacific Open Amateur Championship. Yuki Usami of Japan and Taipei-born Huang Tao kept joint-second-placed. Mission Hills will be the venue of the championship for consecutive 10 years with the beginning year of 2006..

2007 Faldo Series Asia Great Final Was Held At Mission Hills Golf Club

On December 12, 2007 Faldo Series Asia Great Final Was Held At Mission Hills Golf Club, and ended with huge success on December 14. Teenager Rashid Khan of India won U-16 men’s group of the Faldo Series Asia with 205 deftly taken strokes and his victory also earned him a berth at next year’s Volvo Masters of Asia tournament.
